Hi, all! I am so looking forward to reading your writing this week and engaging with you (from a distance!).
My name is Ellie. I am a writer and teacher living in Austin, TX. I am mostly a novelist (unpublished) and occasional short story writer, and I work mostly in the realm of realistic fiction. I decided to join this class to reconnect to the joy of writing, as I've been struggling to connect to my creative brain since quarantine started. For the last three weeks, I have been learning the challenges of "teaching" elementary school students online, so I'm looking forward to slipping into the student role in this space.
I love to travel (both nationally and internationally) and much of my writing is place-inspired. In my spare time, I love to read, hike, swim, and dance--I have discovered a love of two-stepping in the three years I've lived in Austin. Since quarantine started, I've been enjoying doing daily yoga videos (I love Adriene Mischler's channel on Youtube; she's based here in Austin!), teaching myself embroidery, and irritating my dog by kissing him while he naps (he's really starting to wish I'd go back to work).
Hi! I lived in ATX and some of my closest friends are there. The White Horse is my favorite spot to two-step!
Hi Ellie! Thank you so much for taking this class, it's lovely to have you here! Totally hear you on the creative brain space issue and hope this class can be a support <3 Maybe we can get a two-step rhythm into this thing! Hugs from up north!
