Hello everyone, my name is Tim. Although it appears I am a grey silhouette living in a darker grey circle, in reality I live in Frisco, CO and work at the local museum and historic park. While I'm not cleaning rusty gold pans and chasing squirrels out of the museum, I spend my time outside doing the typical mountain outdoorsy stuff: skiing, climbing, biking. My new indoor-oriented hobbies include sewing, cooking, and staring out the window long periods of time.
I love art history so writing about art is something I both enjoy and do not do enough of. The early modern arts of Europe are where my principal interests lie, but I dabble in the contemporary scene a bit as well. The vaunted art writing term "ekphrasis" rarely appears in my Facebook feed so when this class popped up I headed for the sign up page. As for inspirational art pieces: "Nemesis" and "Melancholia" by Albrecht Durer both come to mind, but Fernand Knopff's fantastic images of Bruges were the first art works I really felt inspired to write about. I'm looking forward to look at some art and write about it with you all!
Hi Tim!! Still laughing re: grey silhouette. It's great to have you here and hello from not all that too far away in Ridgway, CO :D Thank you for sharing these gorgeous pieces. I'm very much identifying with that bored looking angel in Melancholia these days! I so look forward to reading your writing and to hearing your thoughts on the artworks in general! Woot woot!
