Walt Benson lived his entire life in Northern California. He loved animals and children and became a sixth grade teacher. He enjoyed carving as a hobby but went back to school and got a degree in art and ended his teaching career as an art teacher. With summers off Walt and Betty traveled the US extensively. Both were interested in Native American art. A trip to Alaska changed his life. He was fascinated with the Inuit Indians and their carvings. He would get an idea, look for just that right piece of wood, make some sketches on it for where to start cutting and dive in. After the piece(s) were carved he would sand, paint, assemble and finally embellish them.

This exhibition will run from February 2nd through 28th.
